Why start the Coralition?
Because protecting our reefs isn’t something one person can do alone, it takes a community. Coralition was formed as way to bring people together, connect stories, and amplify the efforts of those already working on the front lines of ocean conservation.
This isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room, it’s about creating a platform where many voices can be heard, where each person’s skills, ideas, and actions ripple outward to create real impact.
Coralition is a rallying point, a reminder that meaningful change only happens when we work side by side.
These ecosystems are worth saving.

About me….
Hello everyone! I’m Sean Georgeson, ecologist, science communicator, ocean enthusiast, and founder of Coralition, a new initiative dedicated to coral reef conservation and global environmental awareness. Born in Liverpool and raised in Aotearoa New Zealand, my childhood was a non-stop nature adventure! Climbing mountains, exploring caves, wandering forests, and splashing along coastlines. Those early experiences ignited a lifelong passion for the natural world and a commitment to its protection.
These days I try to spend more time beneath the waves than above them. I’m a passionate diver and I wanted to share this passion with the world while doing something helpful. Drawing on my scientific background, I founded Coralition to unite communities, researchers, and organizations in collaborative efforts to safeguard vital coral ecosystems. My goal is to blend education with storytelling to inspire meaningful action across diverse audiences.
Currently, I am travelling Southeast Asia to document the wild and wonderful world beneath the waves and interview marine conservation initiatives fighting to protect it.
I hold a strong belief that enduring environmental progress emerges through collective effort, curiosity, and shared stewardship of the planet’s most precious ecosystems. If we can build a united community, we will have a better chance at preserving these crucial and beautiful marine ecosystems.
FAQs
How do you choose which initiatives to support?
Coralition looks for 3 key metrics when choosing an initiative to support. They must hold a not-for-profit status, they must show evidence of their improvement to reef ecology and preservation, and they must be frugal. We support the kinds of initiatives that are driven by extreme passion and excellent execution.
How much of my donation reaches the initiative?
The Coralition takes no fees, no overheads, no cut, 100% of donations to Charting for Change are processed through GoFundMe and directed straight to the target NFP.c
Is my donation tax-deductable?
For Australian individuals and businesses, yes. Coralition is using GoFundMe to collect funds which are sent to an Australian not-for-profit organisation that is registered for the donation tax rebate benefit.
